Website Management
Website management is the foundation of your analytics setup. This guide will help you add, configure, and manage all your websites in AnalyticsCloudMonitor.
Accessing Website Management
- Log into your AnalyticsCloudMonitor account
- Click "Websites" in the left sidebar navigation
- You'll see a list of all your tracked websites
Adding a New Website
Step 1: Create Website
- Click the "Add Website" button
- Fill in the website details:
- Name: A descriptive name for your website (e.g., "My Business Website")
- URL: Your website's full URL (e.g., https://example.com)
- Tracking Type: Choose between Normal or Lightweight
- Click "Create Website"
Step 2: Choose Tracking Type
You have two tracking options:
- Normal Tracking:
- Full analytics with heatmaps and session replays
- More detailed visitor insights
- Slightly larger tracking code
- Recommended for most websites
- Lightweight Tracking:
- Basic analytics for better performance
- Smaller tracking code
- Faster page load times
- Good for high-traffic sites or performance-critical pages
Step 3: Install Tracking Code
After creating your website, you'll receive a unique tracking code:
- Copy the provided JavaScript code
- Add it to your website's HTML
- Place it in the <head> section or before the closing </body> tag
- Save and publish your website
⚠️ Important
Make sure to add the tracking code to every page you want to track. For single-page applications, add it to your main template file.
Managing Your Websites
Website List View
The websites page shows all your tracked websites with key information:
- Website Name: The name you gave your website
- URL: Your website's address
- Status: Whether tracking is active or paused
- Last Activity: When data was last received
- Current Month Stats: Quick overview of recent performance
- Actions: Edit, pause, or delete options
Website Actions
For each website, you can perform these actions:
- View Analytics: Go to the dashboard for this website
- Edit: Modify website settings and configuration
- Pause/Resume: Temporarily stop or restart tracking
- Delete: Remove the website and all its data
- Get Tracking Code: View or copy the tracking code again
Editing Website Settings
Basic Information
- Click "Edit" next to any website
- Modify the website name or URL if needed
- Change tracking type (Normal/Lightweight)
- Click "Save Changes"
Advanced Settings
In the edit view, you can also configure:
- Excluded IPs: Block specific IP addresses from being tracked
- Events Tracking: Enable/disable tracking of user interactions
- Session Replays: Enable/disable session recording
- Email Reports: Set up automatic email reports
Website Status Management
Active vs Paused
- Active: Website is being tracked and collecting data
- Paused: Tracking is temporarily stopped (no new data collected)
Pausing a Website
- Find the website in your list
- Click the "Pause" button
- Confirm the action
- The website status will change to "Paused"
Resuming a Website
- Find the paused website in your list
- Click the "Resume" button
- The website will start collecting data again
Custom Domains
If you have a custom domain for your analytics, you can configure it:
- Go to Account → Domains
- Add your custom domain
- Configure DNS settings as instructed
- Wait for DNS propagation (can take up to 24 hours)
Bulk Operations
You can perform actions on multiple websites at once:
- Select multiple websites using the checkboxes
- Choose an action from the bulk actions dropdown
- Confirm the action
- The selected websites will be updated
Data Export and Backup
Exporting Website Data
- Go to the website's dashboard
- Click the "Export" button
- Choose your preferred format (CSV or JSON)
- Select the data you want to export
- Click "Download"
Data Retention
Your website data is retained according to your plan:
- Free Plan: 30 days of data
- Pro Plan: 1 year of data
- Enterprise Plan: Unlimited data retention
Troubleshooting
No Data Being Collected
- Verify the tracking code is properly installed
- Check that the website URL is correct
- Ensure the website is not paused
- Test the tracking code in your browser's developer console
- Wait 5-10 minutes for data to appear
Incorrect Data
- Check if you have multiple tracking codes installed
- Verify the website URL matches exactly
- Clear your browser cache and test again
- Check for any ad blockers that might interfere
Performance Issues
- Consider switching to Lightweight tracking
- Check if the tracking code is loading properly
- Monitor your website's performance metrics
- Contact support if issues persist
Best Practices
- Use Descriptive Names: Name your websites clearly for easy identification
- Regular Monitoring: Check your websites regularly for tracking issues
- Test After Changes: Always test tracking after making website changes
- Keep Tracking Code Updated: Use the latest tracking code from your dashboard
- Monitor Performance: Use Lightweight tracking for performance-critical sites
